Dotty Prince

My art is a personal expression of my connection to nature and wildlife—a relationship that began early in my life among the rolling hills of Western Wisconsin. Even as a child, I was drawn to the colors, textures, light, and beauty of the natural world. Those early impressions continue to find their way into my work today.

Life eventually took me west to Colorado, where I spent more than 20 years surrounded by the extraordinary beauty of the mountains. The landscapes of the West captured my heart and became an enduring source of inspiration, reflected in many of my paintings.

Today, I call Galena, Illinois home, where I’m discovering a different kind of beauty in the Driftless Region. Its rugged bluffs, wooded hillsides, winding rivers, changing seasons, and landscapes along the Mississippi have given me an entirely new world to explore through my art.

​

Travel continues to be an important part of my creative journey as well. Wherever I go, I find myself noticing the landscapes, wildlife, colors, and quiet moments that make a place special—and wondering how I might capture a little of that feeling on canvas.

I never quite know where the next inspiration will come from, and that’s part of what I love about creating.
